Leader: Dave Cox
Six of us met at the entrance to the Otari-Wilton Bush on a fine Sunday morning. After crossing Kaiwharawhara stream it was a steady uphill walk until we stopped to admire the 800-year-old rimu. This is truly an impressive tree, and is surrounded by some lovely native bush.
After an hour we crossed the old fence line into the pine forest where the chief guide lined us up. Views of the city opened up as we climbed to the Skyline walkway and followed this north through some grassy patches for a while.
After a quick descent back into Otari-Wilton we enjoyed a restful lunch at the flax clearing. Dropping back across the stream took us to the cars and homeward, with a mandatory coffee stop at Plimmerton.
Those on the trip were:
Chantal Heller, Craig Watkin, Dave Cox, Susan Robertson, Yingjun Shelton, Phoebe
