Leader: Owen Cox
The trip was down as an easy Sunday trip. The weather forecast was for some wet so we began with coffee is Seatoun. From there it was just a short distance up the road to the start of the walkway at the intersection of Inglis Street and Great Harbour Way.
The path zigzags up a short way through pines before heading south. We took the option of doing a loop around Beacon Head. This loop was quite forgettable as it took us into a suburban street with no real views. It was only a short loop and we soon dropped back to the main walkway. This has some nice views of the Wellington heads.
The path follows the ridge to the Ataturk Memorial where we stopped for photos. We then dropped down to the beach at Moa Point. The sun came out and as the only wind was a northerly we had a pleasant lunch by rock pools.
After lunch we strolled around the road to Breaker Bay where we dropped onto the beach. There we had a group photo by the hole in the rock before climbing onto the ridge by Point Dorset. We had a tiny bit of rain as we looked over the old gun emplacements and observation bunkers on the way back to the cars.
All up, the walk, lunch and so on only took 4 hour hours but that matched the weather.
Those on the trip were:
Bryan Wild, John Glover, Kate Livingston, Marian Cox, Mark Robertson, Owen Cox, Pam Glover, Sandra Rowland, Viv Roberts, Yingjun Shelton, Erica, Linus
Currently there is no photo album for this trip.
