Leader: Patrick Liss
Thirteen people met at Whareroa Farm car park at 8:30. It was a grey day and quite windy, and the wind was quite cold, but all the uphill walking warmed us up quickly. After a steady one hour climb in the paddocks we reached the Rocks and waited in the shelter of the pine trees for everyone to gather and had our first morning tea. Second morning tea was an hour later after more climbing through pine forest. We gathered for a group photo.
We then entered the bush which soon turned into a magical goblin forest. It was quite muddy underfoot. All the uphill gave the calf muscles some exercise. When we reached the top at about 12:15, we could not see much because of the low cloud. We had lunch, trying to shelter from the cold wind.
What goes up must come down. We went downhill, which was quite slippery. My thighs certainly had a good workout. Mentioning the steep climb, cold wind, slippery mud and lack of views, one would think that it was not a very pleasant outing, but we had a great time, enjoying the bush, fresh air, each others company and great stories. Thank you Patrick for organising the trip.
Those on the trip were:
Kate Livingston, Marian Cox, Patrick Liss, Tony Quayle, Paula Richardson, Brian Solomon, Yingjun Shelton, Owen Cox, Stuart Allen, Linda, Mark Robertson, Shauna Powell, Sigi Scrase
Currently there is no photo album for this trip.
