We walked along the coast, enjoying the sight of seals, old settlement ruins, the sea colours, cloud shapes, rocks and splashing-over waves. About 7km later, we arrived at the old Ngapotiki Hut site. We then drove to the start of the Mangatoetoe Hut walk, donned our larger packs, and walked 1 1/2 hours to the hut. Sunday we did a pleasant walk out. A drive to Lake Onoke, a short walk to the fascinating fast-flowing outlet.
