Kaimanawas Queens Birthday Weekend 2-4 June
Saturday - We strated up the Umukarikari track over Sharp Cone and Umukarikari and on to Waipakihi Hut, where some camped. Sunday - Up the Thunderbolt Track and onto the Middle Range. Along the range to Thunderbolt and Moturere and then down to the Waipakihi River to camp. Monday - Down the river to the start of the Urchin Track. Up the track, a 350m climb to the Urchin tops. Then the trip out along easy tops followed a bush spur down to the road end.
