A solid trip in spectacular Central Ruahine country. Saturday - From Hinerua Road up a four wheel drive track to join the Hinerua Ridge Track and on to Hinerua Hut. Then down in to Smith Creek and on to Smiths Stream Hut. Sunday - Up to the tops and Rangioteatua. Then down to Rangi Saddle. Then down Rangi Creek to the Kawhatau River and up to Waterfall Hut. Then further up the Kawhatau River to camp. Monday - Up Tussock Creek to Broken Ridge and south along the ridge to drop down to Hinerua Hut. Back out along the Hinerua Ridge Track.
